Yfoundations collaborates with NSW Department of Communities and Justice, Homes NSW, Youth Justice NSW, NSW Health and other sector partners to deliver free, trauma‑informed training and resources that strengthen youth services across New South Wales.

Working with children and young people who use violence

‘Working with children and young people who use violence’, is a collaboration between Yfoundations and Youth Justice NSW with funding from the National Partnerships Agreement (NPA) for Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) prevention programs.

This project is aimed to assist better understanding of adolescent violence in the home, acknowledging that DFV perpetrated by young people is complex and different to that perpetrated by adults. For example, many young people who start to use DFV are often victims themselves and young women are more likely to use DFV compared to their adult counterparts.

Because You Care

The sexual and reproductive health needs of young people in out-of-home care (OOHC) have been overlooked and not addressed. This is due to complexities that can arise when discussing sexual health with young people who may have experiences of trauma.

In partnership with NSW Health, we are proud to deliver free online training for foster carers, those working in the OOHC sector, and those with an interest in trauma-informed sexual health conversations. Because You Care was developed through extensive consultation with key agencies in both the trauma and OOHC sectors.

Sticky Stuff Online

Sticky Stuff Online is a free, engaging and interactive adaption of the popular Sticky Stuff sexual health training. This training provides youth workers with tools, valuable tips and activities to support young people around their sexual health. The online training is funded and developed in collaboration with NSW Health.

Due to the popularity of Sticky Stuff sexual health training, we developed online modules that allow everyone to participate. Sticky Stuff Online provides the opportunity for all workers in youth-facing positions across the state to attend remotely.

Participants can even take the online training as a refresher. If you have already attended a Sticky Stuff webinar or face-to-face training session, this training is perfect to brush up on your skills.

Resources

We have also developed resources to support anyone who works with young people (or young people themselves). Our sexual health awareness video, "Are you ready to talk about sex?", was created by young people for young people. This video explores sexual health from a young person's perspective. Our sexual health fact sheets cover topics such as STIs, Contraception and Sex and Healthy Relationships. They aim to reinforce the video's messaging by providing clear and easy-to-read information for young people.
