Representatives from Yfoundations, Mission Australia and Social Futures decided it was critical to shine a spotlight on youth homelessness and worked together to facilitate a series of forums during Homelessness Week 2022. These forums were held in Ballina in the Northern Rivers area, and Wagga Wagga and Dubbo in the Riverina and Orana regions respectively.

The Regional Youth Homelessness Forums sought to gain a deeper understanding of child and youth homelessness in our regions, as well as the issues, barriers and challenges experienced by the youth homelessness sector. 

The report encapsulates the discussions and frames the recommendations from the Regional Youth Homelessness Forums across four themes: 

• Regional housing crisis
• Service system gaps
• Domestic, family and sexual violence
• Couch surfing.
